College Faculty Holding Strike Vote

Orillia | by Ian MacLennan
Union says wages and benefits are not top priorities.

Teachers and other faculty at Ontario's 24 colleges will hold a strike vote today.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says wages and benefits are not the top priorities.

A union spokesperson says the key issue is faculty getting input on how colleges should be run, for things like student evaluations.

OPSEU says while the union will continue working towards a deal, a "yes" vote would send a clear message.

The current contract for faculty expires September 30th.
