UPDATE OPP Investigating House Fire
The fire on Albert Street South resulted in $400,000 in damages.
Orillia OPP are investigating the fire on Albert Street South.
The blaze broke out around midnight Friday morning.
Members of OPP, Orillia Fire, and the Ontario Fire Marshall's Office held a meeting today.
Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Kirk won't say if the fire is now a criminal investigation.
He does say damage is estimated to be around $400,000.
He says the house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived and it is a total write-off.
Kirk says there was an elderly woman living in the house at the time of the fire.
He says two by-standers came to her aid and were able to get her out of the house safely.
Kirk says Albert Street remains closed between Mississauga and Colborne.
He is advising the public to avoid the area as they try to determine the cause.
