A strong message for snowmobilers from OPP.

A strong message for snowmobilers from OPP.

The SAVE Team strongly suggests checking ice conditions with local ice hut operators before going out.

You're also urged to wear a buoyant snowmobile suit, carry ice picks and never ride under the influence.

The OPP Central Region investigated five incidents involving snowmobiles on the weekend.

A 44 year old man was sent to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Bracebridge.

A 47 year old woman was hurt when her sled hit a tree on a trail near Crystal Lake. On Ship Island, a 62 year old man's machine hit a rock. He suffered life threatening injuries.

And two snowmobile riders on Georgian Bay went through the ice.
